California Giant and Concord Foods enjoyed sweet baking success
December 26, 2013

California Giant Berry Farms and Concord Foods launched a winter baking fresh blueberry promotion Nov. 1 that just came to a close. The focus was on winter baking season and the opportunity to include fresh blueberries as a key ingredient in holiday and winter baking recipes using Concord Food products.

The Berry Sweet Baking Promotion included a recipe contest encouraging consumers to submit an original recipe featuring California Giant blueberries and Concord Foods muffin mix as ingredients.

"We are extremely pleased at the results as we sift through so many creative and delicious recipes submitted,” Cindy Jewell, director of marketing for California Giant, said in a press release. “We know consumers will want to try these recipes at home using our berries, especially since fresh blueberries are plentiful all winter long and add such great color and flavor to the plate."

A panel overseen by the sponsors is now judging all of the submitted recipes to select winners. Entries included creative items like blueberry dessert coconut waffles and blueberry butter cake with vanilla ginger glaze.

Winners will receive gift cards and fresh product from both partnering companies, and the winning recipes will be shared on all social media outlets following the promotion period.

Fresh blueberry season from South America is expected to stretch well into spring so consumers will be encouraged to keep baking all winter long following the end of the promotion as the winning recipes are featured by both California Giant and Concord Foods for consumers to try on their own.
