Georgian blueberries gain weight in export structure

Blueberries are becoming a more important export product for Georgia as the sector continues to expand. At a meeting between Agriculture and Environment Minister Davit Songulashvili, International Blueberry Organization chairman Mario Steta, Georgian Blueberry Growers Association president Tornike Japaridze, and industry representatives, the parties discussed supply chain development, quality standards, the use of new technologies, and export market diversification.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Georgia’s blueberry sector is growing rapidly. In 2025, blueberry exports reached $46.4 million, up 64.5% from 2024. Export volume totaled 6,913 tons, which was 38.5% higher year on year. The main export markets for Georgian blueberries are Russia, Armenia, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, and Germany.
The discussion also covered access to knowledge and modern practices as factors for the sector’s long-term development, as well as cooperation between the private sector and the state. Mario Steta is in Georgia at the invitation of the Georgian Blueberry Growers Association. During the visit, he is expected to tour farms and review the sector’s development prospects.
