About HDC of Zimbabwe

The Horticultural Development Council (HDC) of Zimbabwe was established in January 2020 as the apex body representing the country’s export horticulture producers. As a grower-led, corporate body, HDC’s mission is to organise, revitalise, grow and transform Zimbabwe’s horticultural industry into a competitive, sustainable, and inclusive sector that delivers strong economic, social, and business value.

Our members:

  • Zimbabwe Avocado Growers Association

  • Zimbabwe Berry Growers Association

  • Citrus Growers Association of Zimbabwe

  • Coffee Commodity Association

  • Deciduous Fruit Growers of Zimbabwe (peaches, plums and apples)

  • Nut Growers of Zimbabwe (macadamia and pecan)

  • Export Produce Growers Association (peas, chillies, capsicum, bananas, beans, etc)

  • Export Flower Growers Association of Zimbabwe

  • Zimbabwe Tea Growers Association

HDC promotes the formation and growth of Specialist Producer Associations, which form the base of our representation. These Specialist Associations ensure we maintain our target of representing the majority of horticultural producers in Zimbabwe.

Blueberries are one of the fastest-growing horticultural exports from Zimbabwe, with production expanding due to the efforts of growers, ideal climatic conditions that allows us to command a unique marketing window and global demand for the country’s premium produce. Zimbabwe is well-positioned as a reliable source of berries, and HDC represents the interests of producers on international platforms.
