Winterwood launches year-round berry supply business in Europe

Winterwood is expanding its presence in the European berry market with the launch of Winterwood Europe, a dedicated retail supply business offering year-round berry programs to customers across Poland and the broader Central and Eastern European market.

The new division combines Winterwood’s own cultivation, packing infrastructure, and international supply network to supply European retailers throughout the year.

Blueberries will sit at the heart of the business, with Winterwood Europe having access to almost 20,000 tons annually through Winterwood’s own farms and international procurement network. Raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries will also form part of the offering for selected retail customers.

Winterwood Europe will be led commercially by Maciej Wójtowicz, Commercial Director, who is based in Poland and will focus on developing retail partnerships across Poland and the wider Central and Eastern European market.

The business is backed by the wider Winterwood Group, with berry cultivation in Poland, South Africa, and the UK. Winterwood’s own crop will provide the foundation of its European retail programs, with fruit from strategic growing partners used to bridge seasons and provide continuous supply.

Maciej Wójtowicz said: “The strength of Winterwood Europe is that we are approaching retail supply as growers. We understand the crop, the challenges of production and the importance of planning well ahead to give customers confidence in their programmes.

“At the same time, we have the international reach and partnerships needed to provide continuity beyond our own production seasons. Bringing those two elements together gives us an extremely strong proposition for retailers in this part of Europe.”

Winterwood’s Polish operations provide packing capacity of up to 30 truckloads of fruit each week. This cultivation and packing capacity is intended to support supply during periods when weather, shorter seasons, or crop challenges tighten berry availability.

Rather than operating solely as a sourcing and trading business, Winterwood Europe remains directly connected to cultivation, allowing it to work with retailers on longer-term crop and supply planning while responding to changing market conditions.

The European business has been operational since February 2025, initially focusing on customers in Poland. Its development as Winterwood Europe creates a dedicated commercial platform combining the group’s international cultivation base, infrastructure, and supply network.

Poland remains a key home market, while expansion across Central and Eastern Europe forms part of the division’s long-term strategy.
