Reliability is key

Klasmann-Deilmann presents proven solutions for climate-smart horticulture.

At IPM 2026, Klasmann-Deilmann will present pioneering substrate solutions that address the key challenges facing professional horticulture: resource scarcity, increasing sustainability requirements and ensuring high crop yields. Klasmann-Deilmann’s innovations underline its commitment to practical product solutions and the secure supply of efficient growing media to nurseries.
The coming horticultural season will be characterised by low peat extraction volumes and resulting bottlenecks in the availability of raw materials. Klasmann-Deilmann, on the other hand, remains able to deliver. This is made possible by targeted stockpiling, decentralised procurement and long-standing partnerships with reliable raw material suppliers.

“In today’s volatile market environment, reliability and planning security are of crucial importance to our customers. That’s why we’re delighted to share this good news: we can deliver,” says Managing Director Moritz Böcking.

ADVANCED Substrates: Future-proof performance
In view of the shortage of peat and the increasing international demand for growing media, the ADVANCED Substrate range continues to set standards for peat-reduced and peat-free substrates. The recipes combine renewable raw materials such as GreenFibre® wood fibres, TerrAktiv® green compost and coco fibres with proven horticultural performance. The new key component TerraCoal® improves water balance, air capacity and nutrient buffering – while also measurably improving the substrate’s CO2 foot print.
“ADVANCED stands for secure crop yields and ecological responsibility,” explains Moritz Böcking.

“Especially in challenging times, the value of reliable, tested and sustainable substrate components becomes apparent. Our customers benefit directly from the large raw material base and the expertise we have built up over many years.”

TerraCoal®: The new benchmark for climate-resilient substrate design
TerraCoal® is a next-generation biochar that provides structural stability in the substrate, improves nutrient storage and supports biological development in the root zone. At IPM 2026, Klasmann-Deilmann will present four application concepts that combine sustainability, efficiency and cultivation security – with TerraCoal® as the key component.
−In vegetable propagation, blocking substrates with GreenFibre® and TerraCoal® ensure high stability, excellent water retention and strong root development, while also delivering measurable CO₂ savings.

−In fruit and vegetable cultivation, the Growbag ADVANCED with TerraCoal® and regional renewable raw materials enables climate-friendly production with high performance.

−Ornamental plants benefit from ADVANCED Substrates, which can be supplied with a CO₂ certificate, thus creating transparent sustainability profiles for retailers.

−For strawberries and soft fruits in containers and pots, special mixtures with TerraCoal® ensure excellent crop dynamics – thus supporting sustainable production in closed-loop systems.

Sphaxx®: Reliable quality from sustainable cultivation
Klasmann-Deilmann developed Sphaxx® to harness the horticulturally interesting characteristics of genuine peat mosses. This high-quality propagation-grade raw material offers all the advantages of sphagnum mosses while also being cultivated sustainably without interfering with nature. Sphaxx® is grown in a fully controlled environment, ensuring reliable quality, consistent structure and hygienic safety.

Growcoon: Now optimised for automation
With the further development of their propagation systems, nurseries are increasingly turning to fully integrated solutions. In this context, Growcoon offers automation compatibility, efficiency and biodegradability. Whether for soft fruit, leafy vegetables or ornamental plants, Growcoon ensures uniform root development, faster plant growth and smooth handling in modern nurseries. Growcoon is now available in a new natural brown colour, allowing it to blend more discreetly into the root ball and improving the visibility of roots during both manual inspection and camera-based systems. This supports the smooth integration of Growcoon into automated transplanting, sorting and monitoring processes, especially in high-tech production environments.

On-site knowledge exchange: expert discussions at the stand
Throughout IPM, Klasmann-Deilmann will be hosting short presentations at its stand on important product innovations and current challenges facing the industry. These expert panels offer growers valuable insights and practical guidance on dealing with raw material transformation in the substrate sector.

Klasmann-Deilmann remains a reliable partner in a changing industry. With proven cultivation solutions, a clear sustainability strategy and a commitment to innovation, the company helps horticultural businesses confidently master their diverse challenges.
