Planasa continues to strengthen its presence in Southern Africa during the IBO Summit 2025 week

Cape Town, September 26, 2025. Planasa has experienced an intense and highly productive week in South Africa, where it continues to consolidate its presence in strategic Southern African markets such as Namibia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa itself. The company played a prominent role at the IBO Summit 2025, one of the most relevant international forums in the blueberry sector, which brought together in Cape Town the leading global industry experts and decision-makers.

Within this framework, Planasa also hosted its Meet & Greet, an event that gathered nearly one hundred professionals from across the berry value chain — from retailers and marketers to growers from the region and beyond.

The spotlight was on Planasa’s blueberry portfolio, particularly three varieties that are showing remarkable growth in Southern Africa: Blue Maldiva, Blue Madeira, and Blue Manila. These genetics have adapted exceptionally well to local conditions, offering earliness, quality, and high yields, making them increasingly consolidated benchmarks in the market.

Among them, Blue Maldiva stood out for its combination of extra-large size, outstanding firmness, and uniformity throughout the production cycle. Its international recognition speaks for itself: earlier this year it received the Best Flavour Award and the Most Popular Variety Award at the China Blueberry Conference, confirming its status as a global reference variety.

Meanwhile, Blue Madeira delivers highly uniform, large-sized fruit with excellent bloom and long shelf life — attributes that earned it the Superior Taste Award in Brussels in 2024.

Through its participation in the IBO Summit and the organization of its own initiatives in the region, Planasa reaffirms its strong commitment to genetic innovation and the creation of added value for producers worldwide, further strengthening its role as a global leader in the berry sector.
